Poem By Shahina Lakhani
I prayed for a man to be my friend my protector
Instead you gave me solitude and tenacity
The solitude was for me to see
All that I have refused to see
All my life I have turned a blind eye
To the subtle nudges, the quiet whispers
Because they told me what was real
But all that did not go with my whims
My jealous heart, my wrathful nature
Could never see beyond the pain
The pain of being alone and abandoned
So you gave me the tenacity to persevere
Until such day when I could finally say
"Come, take it all away from me"
That day in my solitude I found you
The Friend of all friends, The Protector of all protectors
Yours in love, peace and gratitude

Again, Shahina, that is beautiful … and thought provoking. Thank you for sharing your heart.
Just beautiful – the pain of a loved one's death is so overwhelming. It is when we realize that we can live again in spite of the loss that we find happiness again.
