What is love? They ask
The burning of the heart
The igniting of the soul
A fire that is lit inside
That beckons you to look
Beyond the veils of separation
Beyond light and dark, good and evil
It makes you look at what lies
In the hidden deep dark corners inside of you
That which you never dared to see
For the fear of being annihilated
For the fear of being destroyed
By its power, by its gore
Love makes you look straight
Into its eyes with compassion
Love demands you to drop the veils
It commands a total control over you
Bringing you down to your knees
In pure awe, reverence and delight
It strips you of your might
It robs you of your contempt
Breaking you dismantling you
Piece by piece by piece
Thought by thought
Slowly painstakingly caressing you
And as you lay there on the floor
Wondering when the final blow will come
That will strip your eyes of their glimmer
Love looks at you and laughs with joy
“Hang in there my dear friend”, love says to you
Closing your eyes you let go of all fear
What is left there to lose anyways?
So you surrender to your fate
And right when you let your last fear go
A fire begins to ignite inside of you
As you watch it in awe and wonder
A phoenix begins to rise from your ashes
Renewed, purified and blazed with love
Yours in love, peace and gratitude
